August Playlists

The last few months I’ve been really vibing with mid tempo alternative and neo soul music. One of my favorites from last month include the new Willow Smith album Lately I Feel Everything. We love an emo rock resurgence.

The new Hiatus Kaiyote album Mood Valiant was absolutely perfect and I’ve added a number of those songs to this playlist. And I’ve been listening to Tame Impala’s entire discography on repeat for the past two years because I am secretly a basic indie white boy at heart.

And of course to keep it a well rounded meal, we must include some great twerking music because after all it is Hot Girl Summer. We’ve got some Meg and Doja on here as well as some more chill female rappers like ENNY and Rapsody.

Most of these songs are great to move to. And if you just feel like listening, there’s plenty of deep lyrical content to unpack as well.

I made this playlist specifically for longboarding between Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park at approximately 12 am on any given weekday.

It’s 2 hours and 6 minutes and is the exact amount of time it takes for me to complete my route. It’s very electric and slightly lo-fi, and meant to make you feel like you’re in the bike riding scenes in Euphoria.

It features artists from Billie Eilish and Oneohtrix Point Never to Janelle Monae and Florence +the Machine; what I hope you’ll consider an eclectic mix of songs with a very palpable vibe.

Listen all the way through in order for the full effect.
